Continuing on with the simple is better theme, here is another shot from the Winter issue of “Martha Stewart Weddings” magazine:

The magazine states that the cake was created by the bride’s sister. It was made using Martha’s Apple Spice Cake recipe and was frosted with White Chocolate Maple Frosting. The lucky bride’s sister then decorated the cake using organic apples and currants. Truly amazing!

Sometimes simple is just better. And pretty. Take this Martha Stewart Weddings butterfly cake for example:

Featured on the cover of the Martha Stewart Weddings magazine (Winter issue), this cake is covered in fondant with a VERY simple edging of piped pearls at each layer. This unique wedding cake is adorned with multi-colored butterflies (from Floraltrims). Is that gorgeous or what?!

Ideas to make this YOUR stunning cake for your wedding include

coordinating the butterfly colors with your wedding colors
A simple ribbon trim at the base of each layer could substitute for the piped pearls
You could easily frost this cake with buttercream

When the light is on the doughnuts are hot! And this is one HOT cake! Arranged on a cupcake stand, this unique wedding cake is actually made from Krispy Kreme doughnuts!

Amazing DIY Cupcake and Cake Designs

Parenting.com recently did a fabulous article entitled “31 Awesome Birthday Cake Designs“. The cupcakes in the picture above (with credit to Parenting.com and photographer Kenneth Chen) are quite simple to recreate. They were made with gumdrops, a frosted Mallomar cookie and M&M Minis. Instructions for decorating the cupcake as well as the cupcake recipe are included at their site.
