It seems that Red Velvet wedding cupcakes are the hottest new trend.  According to Lauri Dittuno, boutique wedding cake baker, brides are choosing red velvet wedding cake over the more tradional vanilla flavor (NY Daily News article).

And for good reason.  If you’re interested in having an incredibly moist cupcake with a decadent frosting, red velvet cupcakes are for you.  The color alone makes these a real show stopper.  They can be baked in plain white paper cups and still look marvelous.  They are typically iced with a cream cheese frosting.
