I think you will agree with me when I say that the best way to tackle a daunting task is to break it down into steps.  Facing a small job or task is much easier than drudging through a great big job all at once.

Tackle your the wedding cake project just like that.  Break it down into tasks.

What is the first thing you would do to get started?  Would it involve looking for the wedding cake recipe?  I think that’s where I would start.  Figuring out the proper pans and the decorating can wait until you know what kind of cake you’re baking.

So, if you’re concentrating on finding the right wedding cake recipe, first you will need to make some samples…. not a bad place to be!  Because making some samples requires eating some samples…

Try making a few different recipes in your ordinary everyday cake pan just to see if you like the cake itself.  You can worry about the different pan size and the appropriate icing later.  Make yourself and your loved one a nice little dessert tonight and see if you are onto the kind of flavor and/or texture that you want.

Here’s a recipe to get you started. One reviewer noted that she halved the recipe for her own home trial so you might want to consider that.  See what YOU think and let us know.

Lemon Berry Wedding Cake

(be sure to read the reviews for great tips.  And no, the cake below is not the lemon cake)
